Welcome to EduTools for Online Advanced Placement Courses, a tool for educators and administrators to examine the availability and quality of online Advanced Placement (AP)* courses. This site provides independent reviews of online AP courses, focusing on content, instructional design, and technical characteristics. Users may perform side-by-side comparisons of reviewed characteristics.

Online AP courses can be an effective way to expand AP opportunities to low-income and rural students. Dozens of innovative course products have arrived on the market from commercial vendors and statewide virtual schools, yet deciding which ones are most appropriate and of the highest quality can be a challenging task. To futher assist you in understanding both the AP program and online courses, the Consumers Guide to Online AP Courses is a new resource that assists students, parents, and educators in selecting the courses that best meet their needs.

The reviews were conducted by the Western Consortium for Accelerated Learning Opportunities (WCALO) and the Monterey Institute of Technology in Education (MITE). The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) began WCALO in 2000 with funding from the Advanced Placement Incentive Program (APIP) within the U.S. Department of Education.
